Thanksgiving weekend getaways that are less than $350 per person

While most people use Thanksgiving to celebrate with their family, it's also a great time to take the long weekend to get away. There's lots of affordable cities you can spend the weekend in, like Montreal, New York City or Washington, DC. Here's how to plan your weekend in order to stay under-budget and on-time.

Montreal

With lots of shops, restaurants and museums, Montreal always has lots to offer. You're going to want to book with megabus where tickets as of today are $128 for two people, round trip. To make the most of your time in the city you'll choose an earlier departure, like the 6:30-12:15 a.m. trip to the city on Friday and the 5-11:30 p.m. return trip on the Monday. In order to get the most bang-for-your-buck, pick up the Montreal Museums Pass (with public transit) for only $80 per person. Rentals on Airbnb are cheap too, averaging around $45 per night. For food, there's a variety of restaurants near all the museums and lots of under $10 meal restaurants that you can hit. In the mood to save a few more bucks? Sign up for an Airbnb account through a referral code like this one here and you'll get $50 CAD off your first reservation.

Washington, DC

You're going to hop on the 8:45 p.m. to 11:20 a.m. megabus to Washington where you'll hop off the bus and get exploring as quickly as possible. Why? You have less than 36 hours to explore the whole city before you have to hop back on the bus at 6:20 p.m. Sunday to arrive back in Toronto by morning. You can purchase the Washington DC Explorer Pass with four attractions for $69 USD which should occupy your time until you're saying farewell to the city. Book an Airbnb along the lines of this one which is only $75 for the one night you'll be spending in town.

This one might be a stretch, but in order to not arrive to the big apple at 1 a.m. you'll need to take the 11 p.m. departure on Thursday night with an arrival of 10:25 a.m. in NYC. For your return journey you'll want to take the 12:15-midnight trip on Monday. The total for the bus is $242 for two people, and you can rent out this cute studio apartment for only $79 per night (plus a $31 service fee). Purchase the CityPass New York for $159.79 and you'll be all set to go.
